Gary with his three favorite things in the world...
wife Nora, son Glen and beer
Gary Greenberg was born and raised in the
Philadelphia area. He attended Penn State University where he majored
in rugby and happy hour and miraculously graduated with a B.A. degree
in journalism in 1976. He has been writing professionally for more than 25 years,
mostly as a reporter and freelancer.
A world traveler and adventurer, Gary has a
vast reservoir of mostly useless information which he draws upon to
write a myriad of things including essays, tales of travel, newspaper and
magazine articles, short and long fiction, and children’s
stories
and verse.
As a writer, Gary has found it necessary to occasionally find alternate
employment including jobs as a
deli counterman, thoroughbred horse
groom, apartment house manager, weight training instructor, house
painter, freshman composition instructor, drawbridge operator and
import/export business manager (see A
Man for the Job). He currently works at American Media,
Inc. (the anthrax people) where he writes stories for the supermarket
tabloids Globe and National Examiner. Since 1999, he has also
owned and operated a freelance writing service called Super Writer, Inc.
Gary began painting cosmic landscapes in the early
1990s and has performed on various street corners and at art festivals
throughout South Florida. For more on this, check out Vagabond Artist.
He lives in Boca Raton, Florida, with his eternally
39-year-old wife, Nora, 13-year-old son, Glen, dogs, Lucky and
Jasmine, quaker parrot Paco, parakeet Quiko, bearded dragon
Spotz
and Florida box turtle Stella.
